Vegan Poha (Flat Rice) Kheer

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup rice white, brown, millet
  • 3/4 cup almonds kagzi badam in paryushan
  • 3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup Poha/Flat Rice
  • 4 green cardamom, skin removed and powdered
  • jaggery powder to taste
  • 4-5 almonds, slivered for garnish

Instructions
 

  • soak rice and almonds in 2 separate bowls for 6 hours each
  • after 6 hours, drain the water
  • blend rice with 1 cup fresh water and sieve in a cheesecloth to get rice milk
  • blend almonds with 2 cup fresh water and sieve in a cheesecloth to get almond milk
  • mix both the milks
  • in a heavy bottom pan, dry roast the poha until golden brown
  • add the milk mixture, cardamom powder and jaggery powder and cook until it becomes like a pudding consistency
  • your dessert is ready, garnish with slivered almonds.
  • can be served hot or cold.
